Varsity Head Coach

Coach Caserio is entering his 13th season and has the longest tenure of any other coach in Gilbert High Schoolís basketball program. He is the all-time leader in wins and has an overall record of 240 - 126. Under Coach Caserio's direction, the Tigers captured the 2018-19 5A State Championship with a record of 29 - 1.

Coach Caserio was also named the San Tan Region and the 5A State Coach of the Year in 2019. Coach Caserio has also been named coach of the year in the Fiesta Region and by the East Valley Tribune four times and in Section 1 of Division 1 in the 2014 season.

Coach Caserio graduated from Northern Michigan University, and earned his Masterís degree from Northern Arizona University. He teaches Honors and AP Biology at Gilbert and is in his 19th year of teaching. He has been married to his wife Christy for 19 years. They have two daughters, Madison (17) and Meisha (15) and two sons, Crew (10) and Tripp (7).

Coach Caserio is passionate about coaching, teaching the details of the game and the daily process of what it takes to be successful. Coach Caserio and the Tiger coaching staff are excited for the upcoming season as they return an experienced and determined team.


Varsity Assistant  Coach

Coach "Newey" is excited to start his 8th season at Gilbert High School. He has spent the past 25+ years coaching at Red Mountain, Mountain View and Mesa High Schools. He grew up in a coaching and basketball family. He has also spent the past 14 years coaching on the national AAU circuit, as well as running many youth leagues and tournaments in the valley.

His father is also a well-known coach in Arizona winning a state championship with Mesa High.

Coach Newendyke has four sons, Greg, Paul, Steven and Scotty and you can either find him in a gym or spending time with his sons.

Varsity Assistant  Coach

This will be Coach Myles 11th year coaching at Gilbert High School. Coach Myles has been a coach for 20 years on the AAU\Club circuit. Currently coaching Club Basketball for Arizona Firestorm. He moved to Arizona 12 years ago from Milwaukee, Wisconsin where he was born and raised.

Coach Myles currently lives in Gilbert with his son JaQwaun (18) who attends GCU. He also has two daughters, Nakyra (22) Nyah (11) and two sons , DeAndre (26), Anthony (24) who all have previously worn a Tiger jersey. Coach Myles also has two grandkids -  both are boys and future Tigers!

Coach Myles brings dedication and knowledge to the Tigers Basketball Program.


Junior Varsity Head Coach

Coach Moe is excited to start his first season with the Gilbert Tigers Basketball program as the Junior Varsity Head Coach. He was born and raised in Detroit and coached Varsity, club and youth basketball for 10 years there, most recently at University Liggett High School in Grosse Pointe Woods, MI.

Coach Moe relocated to Chandler, AZ in 2007 following a transfer from his job at Cingular Wireless. Upon moving here he took a break from coaching basketball until 2018, when he started his non-profit basketball organization MoeDee's Basketball.

Coach Moe is heavily involved with youth basketball, coaching 6 club teams and providing basketball training. He is passionate about mentoring and doesn't consider himself a basketball coach - he thinks of himself as a community activist that uses basketball to teach life.

  Jason James
Freshman Head Coach

Coach James is entering his third year with Gilbert High School and is very excited to be part of the Tiger Program! He has a great passion and love for the game of basketball and believes in teaching the fundamentals of the game.

Coach James believes the game of basketball can be a platform to build on work ethic, positive attitude and teamwork to help our student athletes in the classroom, on the court and with their future goals in life.

He has been coaching at the High School level for the past 8 years within the East Valley, along with coaching in the Club Circuit level for the past 18 years in Arizona & New Mexico.

Coach James has 2 boys- Cameron (25), Braden (20) and two girls Kelsey (18), Ella (14).
