Varsity Head Coach

Coach Caserio is entering his 13th season and has the longest tenure of any other coach in Gilbert High Schoolís basketball program. He is the all-time leader in wins and has an overall record of 217 - 121. Under Coach Caserio's direction, the Tigers captured the 5A State Championship last season and earning a record of 29 - 1.

Coach Caserio was also named the San Tan Region and the 5A State Coach of the Year in 2019. Coach Caserio has also been named coach of the year in the Fiesta Region and by the East Valley Tribune three times and in Section 1 of Division 1 in the 2014 season.

Coach Caserio graduated from Northern Michigan University, and earned his Masterís degree from Northern Arizona University. He teaches Honors and AP Biology at Gilbert and is in his 19th year of teaching. He has been married to his wife Christy for 18 years. They have two daughters, Madison (16) and Meisha (14) and two sons, Crew (9) and Tripp (6).

Coach Caserio is passionate about coaching, teaching the details of the game and the daily process of what it takes to be successful. Coach Caserio and the Tiger coaching staff are excited for the upcoming season as they return an experienced and determined team.

Varsity Assistant  Coach

Coach "Newey" is excited to start his 7th season at Gilbert High School. He has spent the past 25+ years coaching at Red Mountain, Mountain View and Mesa High Schools. He grew up in a coaching and basketball family. He has also spent the past 13 years coaching on the national AAU circuit, as well as running many youth leagues and tournaments in the valley. His father is also a well-known coach in Arizona winning a state championship with Mesa High.

Coach Newendyke has four sons, Greg, Paul, Steven and Scotty and you can either find him in a gym or spending time with his sons.

Junior Varsity Head Coach

Coach Charles was born and raised in San Francisco. There he attended Riordan High school graduating in 1975. During high school Coach Charles was a three sport athlete playing Football, Basketball and Baseball. While playing Varsity Basketball Coach Charles was a part of back-to-back California Central Coast Championship Teams in 1973 and 1974.

Coach Charles received an appointment to the United States Air Force Academy and played basketball for the now legendary Coach Greg Popovich of the San Antonio Spurs. Michael started coaching Youth Basketball in 1995 and has coached every level of play from 4th grade through High School Varsity.

Michael is excited about his second season as the Boys Jr. Varsity Head Coach at Gilbert High School after being part of the staff and program that captured the Arizona State 5A championship in his first season. Prior to that he held the same position at Queen Creek High School for 10 seasons and was on staff for multiple championship teams in Elk Grove Ca prior to moving to Arizona. Michael lives in Queen Creek with his wife Ella of 16yrs. The have a blended family of 4 boys and 1 girl who have produced 8 wonderful grandchildren.

  Fabian Valladolid
Assistant Coach

Coach Fabian graduated from Arizona State University with a Masterís Degree in Public Administration and a Bachelorís Degree in Political Science. Basketball is a way of life for him and his family. The tradition was passed down from their father, who was one of the top players in Mexico many years ago.

Coach Fabian is deeply rooted in high school basketball and club basketball in Arizona. He is dedicated to motivating and inspiring youth to be successful in their daily lives. He has been highly successful locally and nationally with many of his teams. As part of the Tiger program, he hopes to continue to foster the success and development of talented youth.

Coach Fabian has an innovative career in education and youth sports. He is committed to his family, friends, and community in everything he does. He lives in Gilbert, with his family, including his son Prince (15) who is a Sophomore and playing basketball and baseball at Gilbert High, his daughters Zelda (8), Midna (4) and wife Lizette.

  Jason James
Freshman Head Coach

Coach James is entering his second year with Gilbert High School and is very excited to be part of the Tiger Program! He has a great passion and love for the game of basketball and believes in teaching the fundamentals of the game. Coach James believes the game of basketball can be a platform to build on work ethic, positive attitude and teamwork to help our student athletes in the classroom, on the court and with their future goals in life.

He has been coaching at the High School level for the past 7 years within the East Valley, along with coaching in the Club Circuit level for the past 17 years in Arizona & New Mexico. Coach James has 2 boys- Cameron (24), Braden (19) and two girls Kelsey (17), Ella (13).

Assistant  Coach

This will be Coach Myles 10th year coaching at Gilbert High School. Coach Myles has been a coach for 19 years on the AAU\Club circuit. Currently coaching Club Basketball for Arizona Firestorm. He moved to Arizona 11years ago from Milwaukee, Wisconsin where he was born and raised.

Coach Myles currently lives in Gilbert with his son JaQwaun (17) He also has two daughters, Nakyra (21) Nyah (10) and two sons , DeAndre (25), Anthony (23) who all have previously worn or presently wear the Tiger jersey. Coach Myles also has two Grandkids both are boys & future Tigers!

Coach Myles brings dedication and knowledge to the Tigers Basketball Program.
